What is fall protection?
Fall protection is a term used to describe safety systems employed by construction workers to help prevent falls from height. There are many different forms of fall protection, including:
- Edge protection (e.g. guardrail)
- Horizontal safety line systems
- Mobile man anchors
- Safety access systems
The type of fall protection system used is determined by a range of factors, including:
- Size of roof
- Material of roof
- Extent to which the roof needs to be accessed
- Who needs to access the roof (e.g. trained/untrained personnel)
- The manufacturer of the roof and safety system (e.g. roof warranties can become void if a safety not approved by the roof manufacturer is installed)
