Fall Arrest & Restraint Equipment
When working at height, it is a legal requirement for employers to protect their employees from falling, by using a fall arrest or fall restraint system.
Fall Arrest Systems
A fall arrest system enables workers complete freedom of movement to implement their work on a roof, whilst also allowing workers to effect a self-rescue or be rescued in the event of a fall.
Fall Restraint Systems
A fall restraint system enables workers to carry out their work on a roof but prevents them from reaching a point where fall could occur. These systems are normally used when workers need to work at the edge of a roof, or in high-risk areas of a roof such as guttering, roof lights and fragile roof areas.
Fall Arrest Harness & Lanyard
What is a fall arrest harness?
Safety harnesses are widely used in the building industry, this is because they provide safety and freedom of movement for workers. Fall arrest harnesses are used as fall protection in combination with a fall arrest system.
They are considered a valuable piece of protective equipment, but in some areas of work it is mandatory to wear a body harness, fall arrest equipment or safety harness. Places such as construction workers who are walking or working on an unprotected edge that is six feet or more above a lower level.
What is a fall arrest lanyard?
Fall arrest systems are connected to a fall arrest lanyard which is usually 2 metres in length. If a fall occurs, the lanyard absorbs the energy created by the fall and the harness provides fall protection whilst allowing complete movement.
